COVID-19 Case Status Definitions

Confirmed: A person who has tested positive through a molecular test (PCR) that looks for the virus's genetic material.

Probable: A person who meets presumptive laboratory evidence through detection of SARS-CoV-2 by antigen test in a respiratory specimen.

Suspect: A person who meets supported laboratory evidence through detection of specific antibody in serum, plasma, whole blood, or by detection by specific antigen in immunocytochemistry in an autopsy specimen and no prior history of being a confirmed or probable case.
